Federation Safeguarding Policy

It is the guide shared by Fe y Alegría organizations in 23 countries to protect children and adolescents. Its core idea is that nothing we do should put them at risk. In every decision, their well-being comes first.

This is the host country’s policy. It sets out how children and adolescents are protected in all Fe y Alegría Peru activities and what to do in any situation of risk.

Code of Conduct

Everyone taking part in the Congress commits to following the Code of Conduct and to looking after the well-being of children, adolescents and adults at all times. In practice, this means: not taking photos or videos of children or adolescents; not posting images or personal information about participants on social media; and not engaging exclusively with children or adolescents, but treating everyone with respect.

Image Use Consent

By taking part in the Congress “Popular Education at the Margins of the System”, you authorize the Federation, its allies and the host country to take photographs and audiovisual recordings to promote the event.

During the School Visit

The children and adolescents who welcome us are protected by the
Fe y Alegría Peru Safeguarding Policy. During the visit:

  • Always stay with the group and with Fe y Alegría or school staff.
  • Never be alone with a child or adolescent. Another adult must always be present, and the space must be visible from outside.
  • Do not take photos or videos of students. Only the authorized communications team will record, and images will be shared later through official channels.
  • Do not share your phone number, social media or other personal details with students, and do not ask for theirs.
  • Physical contact must always be respectful and appropriate. Greet students as the school staff indicate.
  • Do not accompany students to the restroom or help them with tasks that involve their privacy.
  • Follow the school staff’s instructions at all times.

If you see or know something,
report it

Report it immediately to the three focal points, in person or by phone, and do not share what happened with others or on social media.
